Financial planning for military members and veterans
Military life comes with financial decisions that follow their own timelines and terminology. Pay and allowances, the Thrift Savings Plan, the Blended Retirement System, survivor choices, VA-related considerations, and a move into civilian employment can all affect the same long-term plan.

I help military members, veterans, and their families organize those pieces and connect them to the life they want to build. We take the time to understand which benefits and accounts apply to you, what decisions are coming next, and how those choices fit with retirement, investments, taxes, and family priorities.
Making military benefits part of the larger plan
Military benefits can be valuable, but each benefit has a specific role. We can map your TSP, expected retired pay when applicable, personal savings, civilian employer benefits, insurance, and other investments. Seeing them together makes it easier to understand what is already covered and where the plan may need more flexibility.
The conversation can include:
TSP contribution and investment decisions
Blended Retirement System, retired pay, and Survivor
Benefit Plan considerations
VA-related income or disability considerations within
the financial plan
Insurance, beneficiaries, family protection, and
coordination with specialized professionals
Planning for a transition to civilian life
A military-to-civilian transition can change income, health coverage, retirement saving, taxes, and the family's location at the same time. I help you build a financial checklist around the transition, compare the new choices, and understand how the first civilian role fits the longer plan.

If a new employer offers a retirement plan, we can decide how it should work alongside the TSP and any other accounts. We can also review the cash reserve needed for the transition and update the plan as civilian income and expenses become clearer.

Reviewing TSP and rollover choices carefully

Leaving military service may create a choice about what to do with the TSP. Keeping the account is often available, and a rollover is only one possible path. We can compare investment access, fees, services, withdrawal features, tax treatment, and how the account would fit with the rest of your plan before you decide.
Including spouses and family priorities

Military financial decisions often affect the whole household. A spouse's career, a permanent change of station, child care, education, home ownership, survivor decisions, and support for extended family can all shape the plan. I welcome spouses or partners into the conversation and make ure each person understands the decisions being considered.

Working together wherever you are
Virtual meetings make it possible to keep the same planning relationship through a move, deployment, or change of duty station. I work with clients across the country and can coordinate meetings and follow-up around the practical demands of military and family life.
